Carleigh began her dance training in hip-hop at age 9, and realized her love of dance when she took her first modern class at 15 years old. She then when on to receive a BFA in Dance Performance with a Concentration in Modern Dance at the University of South Florida in May 2014. During her senior year at USF, she performed in Bliss Kohlmyer’s Picture in a Frame/let go let go let go, performing it both at USF and in the ACDFA Southeast Conference Gala. Carleigh has also performed in works by Jeanne Travers and Ben Munisteri, as well as in excerpts from Rosie Herrera’s Pity Party and Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16. In June 2013, she attended the USF Dance in Paris Program under the direction of Michael Foley and Colleen Thomas, where she choreographed, performed, and trained in all styles of dance for an immersive four weeks. Her first post-graduate performance was of her original solo work, To Deviate, in Moving Current Dance Collective’s NewGrounds 2014. Recently, Carleigh performed at The Ritz theater in Ybor City as a part of Tampa Modern Dance Company’s premiere show, Transitioning Through Loss. She has also performed the works Where Thou Art, That Is Home and Debussy’s Delight, both choreographed by Kellie Harmon. She is currently a company dancer with Tampa Modern Dance Company and ROGUEdance, and is also a faculty member for The Studio Dance Company in Clearwater, Florida.
